A GENTLEMAN’S BARGAIN

If Seth turned his head slightly to the right, he could just make out the long row of stables that stood silhouetted against the dark sky.

On the way here, David had told him he owned a hundred acres of land. That in itself didn’t sound so bad—even if it seemed worlds removed from Seth’s one-bedroom Manhattan apartment—but then he’d said something Seth hadn’t expected. He’d confessed he planned to raise horses some day.

For now, the stables stood empty. Eventually, David hoped they’d house two dozen horses.

Horses, for God’s sake. What did David know about horses? By all accounts, he was a financial whiz. He had an MBA. He belonged behind a desk, not in a stable shoveling shit.

And yet, when an image of David in full cowboy attire blossomed in Seth’s mind, it, too, looked right. The David he knew, dressed in impeccable tailored suits and sporting two-hundred dollar haircuts in the latest style appeared to all the world like the poster boy for the corporate lifestyle. Yet clad in tight jeans, tall boots, and a wide-brimmed hat perched on blond tresses that hadn’t seen the sharp end of scissors in months, he’d fit the part of hunky riding instructor to perfection.

Except the only thing Seth was interested in riding was David’s perfect ass. And he didn’t need lessons to do that.

What he needed was to be allowed to move. David pressed the side of his forearm into Seth’s shoulder blades, holding him flat against the window pane.
